The patrol cabin at Tredalen Scout Center is designed to provide scout groups with a simple and robust base for stay and activity throughout the year. The hut is located close to the beach, rocky cliffs and pine forest, and is placed with consideration for the landscape and traffic.
The cabin follows the natural levels of the terrain and touches the ground minimally. The building is placed low in the terrain, in the transition between the tent site and the access road. It is warm and secluded, and gives a low-key expression when viewed from the sea.
The space is divided into two zones under the same roof: one for living, one for sleeping, connected by a covered roof. The walkways are placed outside under the roof, to build on the outdoor and indoor feeling in the use of the building.
Inside, the cabin has a large common room with space for both gatherings and meals, and a bedroom for the scouts. It can be used as a base for camp, everyday activities or courses.
The building is constructed of untreated wood, with identity-creating wooden structures that are both easy to understand and maintain. The choice of materials and solutions has been chosen with durability and longevity in mind.
The result is a durable, honest and user-friendly cabin
– completely in the spirit of the Scouts.
